John Smith III. from Global Philadelphia Association visits Regensburg

Regensburg, Germany

The World Heritage Coordination team of Regensburg, represented by Monika Göttler, had the pleasure to welcome Mr. John Smith III and his wife Susan for a visit in Regensburg on June 21.

Mr. Smith, Board Chair of the Global Philadelphia Association, is a strong supporter of the OWHC idea and had a major share in Philadelphia becoming a member city. On the occasion of a private holiday trip to Europe, Mr. Smith and his wife had a stop-over in the city of Regensburg. Monika Göttler from the Regional Secretariat North-West Europe showed them around in the Old Town district and the World Heritage Visitor Center. A special focus was given to the efforts of Regensburg to support the UNESCO heritage idea and to raise awareness amongst citizens and visitors for its cultural history.

Though only a small version of a “city-2-city” visit, it for sure is beneficial to guests and hosts at the same time – learning from each other should be our main goal within the OWHC.Thanks to Mr. Smith for taking the time during his private holidays to focus on our World Heritage issues!
