Marrakech 2026: A Congress dedicated to evolution and action

Our next major gathering is approaching, and we are proud to unveil today the visual identity and official website of the 18th World Congress, to be held in Marrakech from October 26 to 29, 2026. Our theme will be The New Urban Project: Toward Habitability of Historic Centers.

This event will mark an important milestone in the evolution of our organization. It is the result of a major collaborative effort involving more than half of the OWHC’s members.

In 2022 in Quebec City, we collectively recognized the various crises and the urgent need to act on behalf of our historic centers.

In 2024 in Cordoba, we affirmed that habitability was the answer to the common issues cities are facing.

In Marrakech, we will share new support perspectives available to member cities, with a focus on adopting the OWHC’s New Urban Project, which will drive a cultural shift toward more urban-focused actions in historic centers.

Your presence is essential, and we sincerely look forward to welcoming you among us.

World Congresses

World Congresses are the highlights of our Organization. Every two years, they allow mayors, elected officials, site managers, and specialists from technical services to share their expertise, forge collaborations, and draw inspiration from good practices.

Participation is open to all members, with specific support provided to facilitate the integration of new member cities.

New Urban Project

It will be at the heart of the OWHC’s Action Plan. It will provide solutions to the issues of habitability in historic centers faced by our member cities. Structured, flexible, and scalable, it will support decision-makers in implementing concrete solutions. Its operational development will, in fact, be the focal point of discussions at the upcoming congress.
