Join the pilot city of Quebec and take part in its Collaborative Network!

Quebec, Canada

On Monday, September 29, 2025, Mr. Hervé Chapon, Transportation Planning Advisor at Quebec ‘s Transportation and Smart Mobility Department, presented the thematic: “ Management of Tourist Bus Traffic in Historic Centers ”

As part of its Collaborative Network, the City of Quebec proposes to address the following issues, among others:

  • How can we measure and mitigate the impact of tourist travel (coaches, cruise ships, trucks, cars) on the habitability of a densely populated historic center?
  • How can tourist flows be better distributed over time, space, and modes of transportation to limit overcrowding in Old Quebec?
  • How can economic, social, and institutional actors be involved in mobility that respects heritage and residents?
  • What technological and organizational innovations can improve travel management in a heritage area while avoiding social conflicts and economic losses?
