Election of the members of the Board of Directors of the OWHC for 2026-2028

Any mayor of a city that is a member in good standing for the current year may submit his or her candidacy to become a member of the Board of Directors of the OWHC.

In Marrakech, each candidate for the Board of Directors will be invited to speak to introduce him or herself. These speeches of a maximum of five (5) minutes will take place in the morning of Tuesday, October 27. The voting period for the election to the Board of Directors 2026-2028 will take place during lunch time on Wednesday, October 28. Finally, the results of that election will be announced the same day during dinner.

The Mayor of a member city in good standing who wishes to apply for the position of Director of the Organization must deliver his nomination paper, duly completed and signed, at least one hour before the commencement of the opening ceremony which will take place on October 26 (By-law 44).

Please note that the following conditions must be taken into account in order to submit a candidacy for election to the Board of Directors:

1. Mayors should present their candidacy in person at the General Assembly held in conjunction with a World Congress, or could delegate this task to an elected representative of their municipality (in accordance with Article 46 of the General By-Laws).
2. The candidate mayor must commit to attending at least one (1) meeting per year of the Board of Directors, considering that there are at least two (2) regular meetings per year (virtual or in person).
3. If there is no quorum of directors at a meeting, elected mayors must make themselves available after the meeting to adopt the minutes.

In addition, please note that to attend Board meetings, travel and accommodation expenses must be covered by the city of each Board member.
