The report from the CityLab event, “Rethinking Habitability in the World Heritage Cities of the Caribbean”, which took place in Havana from August 19 to 20, 2025, as part of the Córdoba Path program, is now available.
The event brought together representatives from Havana, Cienfuegos, Camagüey, Trinidad, Willemstad, and Santo Domingo, to discuss the challenges of basic infrastructure, heritage housing, and the integrated management of historic centers. The discussions emphasized the fragility of habitability in the Caribbean, and the initiatives led by local stakeholders to ensure decent living conditions, strengthen heritage management, and promote resilience in the face of social, tourism, and climate pressures.
The results of this CityLab will contribute directly to the work of the Community of Practice and guide the next steps of the Córdoba Path program, particularly in drafting the reference and operational frameworks of the New Urban Project (NUP)
