Agreement for the 7th International Conference of World Heritage Cities of Eurasia has signed.

The 7th International Conference of World Heritage Cities of Eurasia to be held on August 24-27, 2014 in Aktau, Kazakhstan.

The corresponding agreement was signed April 22 by Akim (Mayor) of Aktau Edil Zhanbyrshin and the Regional coordinator of Euro-Asian secretariat of OWHC Rasikh Sagitov.

This agreement provides for the obligations of the parties in the preparation and holding the OWHC International Conference.

The organizing committee of the conference was formed by the resolution of Akim of the city. During the meeting, the mayor introduced the Regional coordinator of Euro-Asian secretariat of OWHC  with the structure of the organizing committee and the tasks assigned to each of the persons.

During the agreement signing the head of the city administration said that the forthcoming conference is important in promoting internationally the cultural heritage of Mangistau peninsula and the development of ecotourism in the region.

The most important task for us – cultural and natural systems preservation, to raise the prestige of our region, to develop alternative ways of nature management – eco-tourism, to attract investment in this sector. It is important for us to learn from the rich experience of other cities. This conference – a unique opportunity to show what we have, and we need to hold it at the highest level – said E.Zhanbyrshin.

It is expected to arrive around 100 delegates, including mayors – Members of the World Heritage Cities of Eurasia (OWHC),  experts from UNESCO, ICOMOS, ICCROM, scientists, historians, archaeologists. During the International Conference the guests will be able to visit the exhibition of cultural heritage where peculiarities of national customs and traditions will be presented. The Mangistau History Museum and the Museum of Labor Glory “PGMK” are also planned to visit.

In turn, Rasikh Sagitov noted that the International Conference in Aktau will be an important discovery for the world community.

The International Conference in your city has become possible due to persistence of Akim of the city E.Zhanbyrshin. The world community could not imagine cultural objects that are on a deserted peninsula – R.Sagitov said.

The city of Aktau is the observer member of OWHC since 2014. The city of the Great Silk Road – Aktau is washed by the waters of the Caspian Sea. About 11 thousand historical and natural objects that deserve the closest attention preserved in the Mangistau region the center of which is Aktau.
