Visit of the President of the OWHC to Québec City

The President of the Organization of World Heritage Cities and Mayor of Cuenca (Ecuador), Mr. Marcelo Cabrera Palacios, visited the offices of the OWHC as part of a working visit to the city of Québec, from October 3 to 5, 2007. First, Mr. Cabrera Palacios met the acting mayor of the city of Québec, Mr. Jacques Joli-Coeur, as well as Mr. Denis Ricard, who temporarily holds the position of director of the Francophonie Summit that will be held in July 2008 as part of the festivities of the 400th anniversary of the foundation of the city of Québec.

In addition to meeting the Programs Director, Juan Manuel Martínez, as well as Ms. Rachel Larouche in order to learn about the development of the programs and their implementation, Mr. Cabrera had a meeting with Mr. Jean-Paul L’Allier, former mayor of Québec and the founding president of the OWHC, to speak about the Jean-Paul L’Allier for Heritage Prize and its first edition planned for the Quito Congress in 2009.

During his visit, the President of the OWHC met with Ms. Moïra Guilmart, deputy mayor of Paris and responsible for heritage, in order to create a closer relationship between our Organization and the city of Paris.
