ICOMOS 20th General Assembly and Scientific Symposium (GA2020): you are invited!

Australia ICOMOS invites leading cultural heritage scholars, practitioners, and administrators to be part of GA2020, to be held in Sydney, Australia, from 1-10 October 2020.

GA2020 provides opportunities to be part of a Youth Forum, specialty events, workshops and meetings, tours, social events, and the 4-day Scientific Symposium. Attendees also have the opportunity to visit some of Australia’s iconic World Heritage properties including Indigenous landscapes, convict sites, natural wonders and the Sydney Opera House.

Join lively debates across the field of heritage conservation: climate change and sustainability; bringing together natural and cultural heritage; Indigenous rights and responsibilities; recognition of marginalised heritages; the role of digital technologies; challenges of protecting intangible heritage; the ways cultural heritage practice has responded to the Australian bushfire emergency; and of course, World Heritage practices and processes.

Hear from world-renowned speakers: June Oscar AO, the Australian Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Social Justice Commissioner; Dr Thant Myint-U, Founder and Chairman of the Yangon Heritage Trust; and Her Royal Highness Princess Dana Firas, UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador and global advocate for heritage protection and preservation.
